The U.S. Department of Agriculture attaché in Australia says the country is expected to produce a third consecutive big grain crop in marketing year 2022-23.
The report said another broadly favourable set of conditions around the time of winter grain planting and the early growth phase across most production regions bodes well for wheat and barley production in 2022-23.
Wheat production is forecast at 31 million tonnes, down from the record-breaking 36.3 million last year but still the fourth largest in history.

Barley production is forecast at 11 million tonnes, down from the previous year’s 13.7 million tonnes. The attaché said barley acreage would have been lower if farmers had been able to obtain more canola seed.
