WHEAT COULD REBOUND

Argentina’s 2010-11 wheat harvest could be twice as big as the previous cycle’s drought-hit crop as farmers take advantage of moist soils to dedicate more land to the cereal when sowing starts in May. Argentina is a key supplier to neighbouring Brazil, but shipments have fallen in the last two years due mainly to a prolonged drought that squeezed 2009-10 output to its lowest level in 30 years. If yields are average, production could reach between 13 million and 15 million tonnes, up from 7.48 million tonnes.
