Winnipeg, April 7 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world pulse markets on Thursday, April 7.
– Seasonal price trends should see pea and lentil bids in Western Canada start to trend lower beginning in mid-May, according to analysis provided by Chuck Penner, of Leftfield Commodities, in the latest report from the Alberta Pulse Growers. The prices typically turn lower at that time as attention turns to the new crop.
– The chickpea harvest is underway in India, with early yield reports pointing to another supply deficit in the major pulse importing country.

– Green pea prices in the C$9.00 to C$9.75 per bushel range are being reported in Western Canada. Meanwhile, top end yellow peas are going for as much as C$13.50 per bushel in some locations. Red lentil bids of 51 cents per pound now being reported in some locations. Meanwhile, number two large green lentils are hitting prices as high as 75 cents and number ones have topped 80 cents at some locations.
– Chickpea prices in Western Canada also remain strong, with large caliber Kabulis’s trading as high as 47 cents per pound.
