Glacier FarmMedia—The Czech Republic is dipping its toes into the waters of Canadian agriculture with a visit to Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show at Woodstock.

Filip Lameš, agricultural attache to the embassy of the Czech Republic, also known as Czechia, was at the show today to explore potential new markets for agriculture manufacturers in his country and innovations that farmers there could adopt.

“We have a wide range of agricultural manufacturers in the Czech Republic and they’re very interested in Canada as a market,” Lameš said.

Ag in Motion innovation awards showcase top 2025 ag technology

The 2025 Ag in Motion Innovation Awards celebrated winners across five categories: agronomics, agtech, business solutions, environmental sustainability and equipment.

The sector produces ploughs, cultivators, seed drills, sprayers, loaders and haying equipment, Lameš said.

He also said the country could be a good market for Canadian equipment makers. Farms there are growing in size and complexity, and need the latest equipment.

“We have a number of large farms that are interested in innovative farm machinery,” Lameš said.

Rob O’Connor, COFS show director, noted an uptick in international visitors in this year’s show. A large delegation from Italy spent a significant amount of time at the show, as did a group from the Czech Republic. O’Connor said it marked a rebound in these visitors since it was curtailed by the pandemic.

“I think COVID is over for most of the world, and the international visitors are back in droves,” he said.

O’Connor noted that’s good news for Canadian machinery manufacturers, as it indicates a healthy interest in their product from abroad.
