Rain across the U.S. Midwest during the next week will be lighter than expected but almost all areas will receive some precipitation.

• Temperatures will remain cool, so the corn crop should finish its pollination stress free, said John Dee, a meteorologist with Global Weather Monitoring.

• The storms forecast for early next week were expected to bring between 0.2 and 0.6 inch of rain, down from the earlier forecast of 0.4 to 1 inch.

• Light showers also were forecast for parts of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and eastern Illinois on Wednesday, with rain totals expected around 1/3 inch or less.

• Similar precipitation totals were expected in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa on Wednesday night and Thursday.

• Rain was expected in southern areas of the Midwest on Friday and Saturday.
