– Canadians out of work due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including those not normally covered under employment insurance, can access an online government portal to apply for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) starting Monday, April 6. A staggered system based on month or birth has been set up to help prevent overloading the site.

– A tiger at the Bronx Zoo in New York has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19. The four-year-old tiger, Nadia, is believed to have contracted the virus from an asymptomatic employee. It marks the first known case of the infection spreading from a human to an animal.

– United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson was admitted to hospital over the weekend due to complications of COVID-19. He is reportedly doing well and still doing government work from the hospital.
