Global Markets: Saudi Arabia sentences five to death for Khashoggi murder

– Saudi Arabia has sentenced five men to death and another three to prison terms for the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. While many western intelligence agencies maintain that the killing was directly ordered by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi investigation concluded that “the killing was not premeditated.”

– The CEO of Boeing, Dennis Muilenburg, is stepping down as head of the company. He will be replaced by board chairman David Calhoun, as the maker of the 737 Max jetliner works to restore consumer confidence.

– U.S. President Donald Trump said this morning that the trade deal with China would be signed ‘very shortly’. Stock markets were higher as a result.
