The Inspiring Rural Leadership pilot project is looking for participants.

“At some point in everyone’s life –— whether it’s in the workplace, the community, or a family setting — we’re called upon to be a leader,” said Shari Hanson, leadership specialist with Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development. “The Inspiring Rural Leadership program aims to help develop the leadership skills of those involved in rural organizations.”

The department has developed learning modules for the new program and are looking to test them with a pilot group this winter.

“We are currently recruiting rural Albertans who are able to commit to participating in five full-day workshops,” said Hanson. “The pilot workshops will be held in the area east of Red Deer.”

The workshops, which run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will be held in Stettler (Feb. 27), Hanna (March 13), Castor (March 20), Coronation (April 10), and Alliance (April 24).

“Participants in the pilot workshops will be helping ensure the modules for this certificate program are relevant to rural Albertans,” said Hanson. “If you are able to commit to participate each of these five days, please consider registering. Participating in the pilot of these modules is at no cost and we’ll cover your mileage.”

Deadline to register is Feb. 18. For more information or to register, contact Hanson at 403-754-3105 or by email.
