Federated Co-operatives is accepting applications for its Co-op Community Spaces Program.
The program offers grants for capital funding of between $25,000 and $150,000 per project.
Since its launch in 2015, Community Spaces Program has provided $6.5 million to 88 projects. In Alberta, these include grants for a soccer park in Vegreville; an upgrade to the waterslide at the Sundre Aquaplex; playgrounds in Airdrie, Spruce View, and Drayton Valley; a community preservation project in Vermilion River; and a community farming system and outdoor classroom in Red Deer.
The program is open to registered charities, non-profits, and community service co-ops in Western Canada. Eligible projects must be for community use and fall into one of three funding categories (recreation, environmental conservation, or urban agriculture). There is $2 million available in 2019 but applications must be made by March 1.
