Alberta Pulse Producers is sponsoring the third annual Savouring Pulses promotion from May 9-15 in Edmonton. Six local restaurants will offer 22 unique pulse dishes featuring dry peas, beans, lentils and chickpeas. The challenge for restaurant diners will be to try many of these dishes in only seven days.
Diners can savour a black bean soup with smoked pork hocks or a Masala chickpea soup. Pulse salads are taken to a whole new level with a Caesar oriental salad with chickpea spring roll or a white bean and kale salad. Creative mains include a crusted halibut with split pea risotto, golden lentil dahl, or a kabuli chickpea potage with chorizo and date relish. Diners looking for a sweet treat can enjoy a dessert of red bean gelato with yellow split pea chocolate brownie.
