The federal and Alberta governments have announced a water management program to provide technical assistance and incentive for the creation of a long-term water management plan at the farm level. The program is jointly funded under the Growing Forward program.

Any active Alberta producer with a minimum of $10,000 farm commodity production per year is eligible to apply. To be eligible, the producer must develop a long-term water management plan for their farm. This must be provided to ARD and approved by designated ARD staff prior to beginning the project.

Program payment will be based on one-third of eligible project costs to a maximum of $5,000 per eligible producer. This limit applies to the total payment eligibility for all applications filed under Growing Forward during the four years.

Special Incentives at 50/50 cost sharing for certain items in support of improved water management or protection are also available.

For information on how to apply, visit www.growingforward.alberta.caor call 310-FARM.
