The Lakeland Applied Research Association (LARA) has become a member of the Agricultural Research and Extension Council of Alberta (ARECA).

“LARA has a long history in conducting applied research and extension in northeast Alberta,” says Bill Gaugler, ARECA chair. “It’s great to have LARA on the ARECA team.”

LARA conducts local not-for-profit research, demonstrations, and pro-jects in the Lakeland area, serving farmers in the counties of St. Paul, Smoky Lake and Lac La Biche, and the municipal district of Bonnyville.

“I’m particularly pleased to have LARA on the ARECA team,” says Gaugler. “I grew up on a farm in that area and was the manager of the Lakeland Forage Association after I graduated and before I went farming. ARECA’s goal is to provide good production information to farmers across Alberta, so having LARA on the team is right in line with where we want to go.”
