Bison, elk and deer farmers are receiving some marketing help from the federal government.
On Nov. 22 Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz announced $370,000 for the Canadian Bison Association (CBA) to promote its product in the domestic and international marketplace.
The government will support two projects: $194,500 through the AgriMarketing Program for promotion and $177,760 through the Canadian Integrated Food Safety Initiative (CIFSI) to continue the development of the Bison Industry Traceability Program.
On Nov. 17 Ritz announced $20,000 from the AgriMarketing program for the Canadian Cervid Alliance to develop an international strategy to increase exports of elk and deer.
