The Calgary Stampede and BMO Bank of Montreal awarded 19 recipients of the 2009 BMO Farm Family Awards during Stampede earlier this month.

“These families are outstanding examples of how far farm management has come and the tremendous contributions these families make to enriching rural life in Alberta, not only historically at the Calgary Stampede, but as contributors to Alberta’s business success year-round,” said Ted McCarron, senior vice-president, Prairies Division, BMO Bank of Montreal.

The awards focus attention on the importance of farming as a diverse and compelling business sector, the unique ideals and opportunities of rural living and the manner in which farm families are actively involved in their community.
