Win a grant for a local organization

A lucky community organization in Alberta will receive a grant of $25,000 if its nomination from a grower captures a public vote. 

Growers have until April 30 to submit a nomination for the ‘Growing Home with BASF’ contest put on by BASF Canada Agricultural Solutions. 

“In a short write-up, tell us why they deserve $25,000 to help continue to make a positive impact in your community,” states the BASF contest website

Luke Wonneck, a coordinating committee member with the Treaty Land Sharing Network, took Elder Alsena White and Lana Whiskeyjack, a nehiyawak (Cree) from Saddle Lake First Nation, accessing the land where Whiskeyjack picked berries with her grandmother over 50 years ago. The Treaty Land Sharing Network has grown slowly throughout its first year in Alberta, but landowners are starting to get on board.

A panel of judges will select five finalists (as well as five more in both Manitoba and Saskatchewan) and the final five will face a public vote beginning May 15.
