The ag recycling season is underway as more than 1,500 collection sites across the country are now accepting empty single-use pesticide and fertilizer containers.
The program, operated by the non-profit organization Cleanfarms, has collected more than 143 million containers over the past three decades. Recycled plastic from the jugs is made into products such as flexible drainage pipe and plastic bags.
To find a location, go to cleanfarms.ca and click the ‘Containers up to 23L’ logo on the home page. That will bring up a new page — scroll down to the maps icons and click on Alberta to bring up an interactive map.

Clicking on a collection site will bring up its location, whether it accepts jugs and a phone number.
The page with the map icons also has recycling instructions (such as triple rinsing, no caps, and no home and garden jugs).
