A ‘challenging year’ for seed supply

It’s not a guarantee of getting your seed order filled but one company says it will do the legwork in trying to find scarce seed for its customers. Canterra Seeds says its online ordering system will have a “secure supply” option that will direct an order to the nearest suppliers.

“The goal is to match farmers wanting to purchase certified seed with suppliers that have seed to sell, and hopefully take a little work off the plate for both,” Canterra official Brent Derkatch said in a release. He added, “we anticipate a challenging year in matching seed supply to farmer customers.”

The sourcing option is for certified wheat, barley, oat and yellow pea seed sold by the company.
