Viterra has bought Premier Pulses International Inc., a U.S. processor and seller of legume crops.

The deal includes a pea-and lentil-processing and merchandising facility in Minot, North Dakota, and a marketing office in Lewiston, Idaho. Premier Pulses is located in the main pea-and lentil-growing regions of the northern United States and will help fill demand for legume crops in the Middle East and Asia, Viterra senior vice-president Bob Miller said in a statement.

Viterra has said the United States is one of its key target areas for acquisitions.

Terms of the deal were not announced.
