– New U.S. jobless claims topped six million for the second week in a row, according to a new report from the U.S. Labor Department. The country has now shed 15 million jobs in the span of three weeks amid layoffs due to COVID-19.
– In Canada, the country lost one million jobs in March, according to a report from Statistics Canada. That took Canada’s unemployment rate to 7.8 per cent. An additional 1.3 million people reported no paid work due to lockdowns, but were still technically deemed to be employed.
