Bezanson Agricultural Society, Millarville Racing & Agricultural Society and the Grande Prairie Regional Agricultural & Exhibition Society are the inaugural recipients of the Alberta Agricultural Society Innovation Award.
The award was created to find a way to recognize the innovation and resilience shown by Alberta’s agricultural societies during COVID-19.
Bezanson’s Ag Society was commended for “finding new ways to positively impact its community through initiatives that include the Freezin’ Hub and Creating Connection,” said the Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies.
Millarville’s society showed “creativity and ingenuity” with its virtual fair, online fundraising and Christmas market while efforts in Grande Prairie such as an outdoor movie theatre and concerts, a special grad ceremony, dogsled tours, and “many more initiatives” earned it the regional award.
A selection panel reviewed 29 applications. For more, see the awards section of albertaagsocieties.ca.
