Alberta potato growers face rising costs, trade uncertainty and global competition

Alberta potato growers are navigating surging input costs, new global competitors, and an uncertain U.S. trade relationship.

Farms increasingly need these sorts of skills, the CEO of a major grain farm and feedlot operation said in the release.

“As a producer, the speed at which technology is changing our current agriculture practices is daunting,” said Jeff Carlson, CEO of Carlson Agricultural Enterprises.

“Now, more than ever, the ag sector needs skilled graduates who are able to understand, harness and leverage the immense amount of data being generated throughout the agri-food value chain.”

The college also has a diploma program and a post-diploma certificate program in ag tech.
