The final numbers are in for the latest edition of Alberta Open Farm Days, and organizers are declaring it a major success.

“Despite the continuing challenges and uncertainty around COVID-19, Alberta producers and rural communities were excited to share their farms and knowledge to educate people about where their food comes from and to encourage people to shop local,” said Tim Carson, CEO of the Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies.

More than 12,000 people visited 106 farms and ag operations, an increase of 19 per cent from 2020. Host farms reported an estimated $46,250 in on-farm sales during the Aug. 14-15 event.
