Grant aims to raise awareness of wildfire risk

Organizations can apply for a $500 grant to host a Wildfire Community Preparedness Day in their area.

The ‘Prep Day’ is held on the first Saturday in May (May 6 this year) with the goal of bringing residents together to “work on projects that raise awareness of wildfire risk and increase their resilience to it.”

Communities, groups or individuals can apply for the grants at firesmartcanada.ca (there’s a link to Prep Day on the homepage as well as under the Programs tab). The application deadline is Jan. 31.
