The Beef Cattle Research Council wants to establish research chairs.
“Currently, a shortage of scientific experts and research capacity in some areas of beef, cattle and forage research are hindering the ability to conduct priority research that supports improvements in productivity and demand and responds to emerging issues,” the council says.
It is calling for proposals in areas such as feed and forage production, increase feed efficiency, and to decrease the impact of animal health issues and diseases.
The council hopes to attract other parties to help fund the chairs for up to 10 years, after which universities and colleges would take over.
